My wife and i stopped overnight in a Gatwick hotel as our flight to Venice was at 07.30 in the morning.when we arrived at Venice airport we were greated by a very friendly and helpful member of staff who directed us to the waiting coach.the driver loaded the cases and that was the last we saw of them until we reached our state room.At the dock in Venice we booked a wine package which was fairly reasonable, and compared to buying the wine on board turned out to be a good choice. We also had to give our cret card details.
Our cruise was the Greek isles and croatia. As we stepped onto the ship we had our picture taken which was electronically put on our sea passes. The pass is then used as your onboard credit card. From the moment we stepped onto the ship until the moment the cruise was over all the royal caribbean staff were fantastic .Our cabin was a large interior and was bigger than we had imagined it to be.The ammenities and all the food on board were second to none, and we enjoyed all of our ports of call even though sometimes the weather could have been a bit better. We went on a couple of organised trips.which were well run and value for money .
So all in all we could'nt have had a better experience for our first cruise with Royal Caribbean and are already looking forwards to the next.

We have just booked this cruise for June 2009 - we are first time cruisers (2 couples) and would be interested in any tips, especially how much your "wine package" was and prices of drink onboard, plus any other tips you could give us. Many thanks.

If you like wine with your meal it is definately worth buying package , we went for the middle range which cost 199 $ ( with tip ) for 7 bottles , the choice was very good and an individual bottle in the package cost 30 - 4o $ . We were 2 couples and a round of drinks cost about 25 $ , you get free lemonade , water and tea and coffee so we didnt buy soft drinks . . We did find if you need local currency for ashore, you are better off , either taking it with you, or exchanging it in the country you are visiting, on board it is changed to dollars first so you loose quite a bit .

We cruises in mid Sept and bought the soft drink package ($42) that was great value for money. It included coke, sprite, tonic and soda water and diet versions, unlimited quantities. This you could only purchase at the port before embarkation. Strongly recommended. Beers were $7.48 (including 15%gratuity) and cocktails anything from $7.50 to about $12. Other tips are on our review under Marnewick. Enjoy your cruise!
