This was our first cruise experience and it will not be the last , especially with Royal Caribbean. Very impressed with this ship. Staff are so friendly and helpful, the room attendance keep your room so clean and tidy. But tips are expected and this does add to the price of your holiday this is $20 per day for a couple, every price on ship is in dollars with the exchange rate good at the moment very good value for money. The food in the Windjammer cafe is superb, we preferred this option to the formal dining option, the description cafe does not do the Windjammer cafe any justice at all, as it is as good as a four star restaurant in a hotel, food choices are superb and the menu does replicate the Formal dining room menu. This will be our choice in future as you can still dress up and use this facility. All the crockery is a high quality plastic in the Windjammer, this may put some people off.
Good ports of call with the exception of Santrorini, 5 cruise ships pulling in to one tiny port landing, it is absolute chaos, my tip would be to book a excursion with the Cruise ship this will at least allow you to avoid the chaos of the 2 hour wait in line for the cable cars or the Donkey ride to the town, if you choose to walk up to town be careful, I got trampled to the floor with the Donkeys, not a good experience, turned round and came right back to the Ship for the day.
Tip for a good beach if you do not want the historic sights in Turkey , Ladies beach in Kussadassi great beach and local bused running every 5 minutes from just outside the port, we had a great day on the beach and the temperature was 95 degrees, so a day on the beach and swimming in the sea is very welcoming.
On the Splendor of the Seas Ship I liked the mixed age groups and mixed nationalities on this ship, it had a really good feel to it lots of families, Couples and young people. We met some great American Friends during the trip, and this really made the trip special. Will be looking to sail with Royal Caribbean again next year for my 50th Birthday.
Quality of Food5
Windjammer Cafe
Entertainment3
Enjoyed the most, tribute Beatles act. The least the male tenor
Shore Excursionsn/a
Did not really use the Shore excursion's , choose to do out own excursions using local buses. Would recommend a shore excursions in Santorini, to avoid the chaos of the port landing with all the other cruise ships.
Staff5
All the staff where excellent at their jobs friendly and wanting to help you all the time. Anthony the Cruise Director was exceptionally good at his job.
Children's Facilitiesn/a
Onboard Activities4
Would have liked more ballroom dancing , only one session planned and we missed it , coincided with our evening meal sitting.
