We have just returned from a cruise through the Panama Canal on the RCL ship `Radiance of the Seas. The trip was wonderful, the accommodation and food excellent. There was a wide variety of restaurants all with so many dishes on offer it was hard to choose. There was plenty of entertainment including a show each evening in the theatre, demonstrations such as cake making and ice sculpturing. There were a number of groups who entertained throughout the ship. Our favourite duo was `Rosario Strings`, a gentleman on an electric violin and one on
a guitar.
We also found that with the number and range of excursions offered there was something for all ages. The organisation of these trips was amazing. We booked for the Acapulco trip to see the divers along with 450 other passengers and we were soon loaded on the buses which most took different routes. The trip through the Canal was awesome, the locks the ship entered looked too small to take such a big vessel.
We had only one complaint and that was the smoking. This was allowed in the Casino and a small area at the side of the ship. However it was also permissable on the private balcony of the cabins and occasionally as we sat on our balcony cigarette smoke drifted from balconies below and at the sides. Being allergic to smoke we would have preferred to have this stopped and smoking restricted to the designated zones.
We were so pleased with the whole trip that we have already booked another one on the new ship `The Independence of the Seas` sailing on September 6th 2008.
