Just back from 14 day cruise on Independence, had an excellent time on this great ship. Food was very good in King Lear as well as in the Windjammer (although this could be very busy at peak times) eat in Portofino once, again was very good unfortunately coulnt get a table in Chops so would advise to book early in your cruise as by all accounts it is exceptional. I found the drink to be on the expensive side, although that didnt stop us have a good few !!The facilities on board are brilliant, with plenty to choose from if you wanted to be active or just relax ( I would agree with coments in previous reviews though about the lack of sun beds on sea days). We had a cabin on Deck 8 with a balcony and this was superb- would have been space for 4 people although that would have resulted in a lack of storage, there was just about enough space for 2 Adults clothes- our stateroom attendant Michael was great. We did several organised tours- Gibralter was great as was the trip to see 'the five villages' from Livorno, I was disappointed in the visit to Barcelona FC- inside the stadium was very dated and in my opinion not a patch on the millenium in Cardiff which had visited in July. Overall it was a very good holiday- although I felt the number of passengers made it feel a little impersonal at times, perhaps too big?? Next year am looking at Brilliance of the Seas as I found her to be my personal favourite.

I agree with most of the comments except the sun bed one...If you wanted a sunbed around the pool sea days it was busy but there were other places with loungers empty. If people leave towels on loungers and dont use them...remove the towel...that will cost them $20 and maybe make them think twice about this annoying habit!!!

We sailed on this cruise and enjoyed it. Agree that the deck chair/loungers were a problem, usaully by other crusiers leaving towels on the chairs and not siting on them, again the deck staff ignorned the rule yet again. We were lucky and always got a lounger up the front of the ship. Quite a lot to loungers were tied up due to weather problems as well. We ate in Chops and booked it prior to going ont he cruise which is a good idea and you pay in sterling which did work out cheaper on thes holiday, we also booked our trips prior to sailing. All in all a good cruise but having been on this and the Freedom agree the Brilliance and the Jewel are two of their better ships as they are smaller and more friendly. We were booked in a D1 on Deck nine and like this size cabin as it gives ample room for two and a nice balcony. n
