Independents of the seas short cruise. In August of 2008 my son and I along with my sister boarded the Royal Caribbean ship Independence of the seas for a 5 day 4 night cruise to Cock in Ireland. When we arrived at the ship we were given a warm welcome by all the port staff at Southampton and of course by the crew of the ship. Boarding was easy and our cases arrived in our standard outside cabin within 2 hours. The cabin was well appointed with TV mini bar and just enough space for the three of us. The ship itself is out of this world, there is so much going on not only for adults but also children, my son is 9 and had no problem going in the children’s clubs, in fact the only problem is at night if you don’t pick up your children at 10pm there will start to charge you $10 per hour and carry on until you do turn up. I found out because my son stayed late a couple of nights and I got charged. He was aloud top go as and when he wanted to but you do have to sign to say that there can have that freedom other wise there will hold them there until you turn up. Now down to the real stuff, how was the food, the shows and the boat it self. The food around the ship is great but I felt within the main restaurant it was not as good as other cruise ships I have been on. There was nothing wrong but could have been a little higher on the standard. For example the formal night was only three courses. I should not complain as you will never go hungry. There are lots of different options to choice from and 24 hours a day. The shows in the main theatre and the ice shows are a must, you should not miss them, full west-end style but if not your cup of tea there are plenty of the bars with music and games all around the ship what ever takes your mood its there. With out dragging on the ship is mind blowing in its size, the staff are so helpful, its clean, its great fun and just about worth the money there cost. Would I go again of course I would but it does not come cheap so will have to save.

Hi, First buy the soda cup offer, its about $18 and means that there can get soft drinks as often as there wish and you pay no more, its a one off payment but its only avaiable on the first day. over wise drinks for kids are just as much as a beer etc. Also the kids clubs are worth looking at my son really enjoyed them. Hope this helps
