Hi we are travelling with a 18 month old who wont be nappy free, i was told when booking that she would be ok in a swim nappy in the kids pool, Did you find this to be the case ? She will be distressed if she is not allowed to play along side her brother and other children so getting very worried about this.
Many thanks

Hi there I've not been on the IOS yet but will be in October. From what I've read on other cruise sites children are definitely not allowed in the pools with nappies on. Apparently staff do ask parents to remove the children. It's a shame, they should have their own little area.

Although I can obviously understand your frustration at not finding the childrens facilities that you would have wanted on board the Independence of the Seas, lets face it, you didn't go on a Canaries cruise for the benifit of your under 5 year old children did you? You went on it because YOU wanted to go? If you wanted the childrens facilities to be perfect then surely that should have been your priority when booking a holiday with them, and leave cruising until they are old enough to appreciate the experience for themselves? Cruises are more child friendly now than ever before, but I still don,t really think it is the ideal holiday on which to take very young children. Happy cruising.

I think you have missed the point the writer of this review was making. Whether or not you think taking young children on a cruise is a good idea. Surely it is up to parent to make that decision for themselves!!!! (I think your comments are quite insulting - I don't understand why people have to be so rude)The point is that many families booked this cruise with RCL specifically because they advertise it as suitable for young children. If you turned on the interactive TV - you were bombarded every day with how wonderfull the Fisher Price interactive programme was. It would state that" you would learn to play with you child like never before".But in reality all you got was a few toys scattered on the floor with little interaction from the staff. I think what the writer of this review is trying to say is that the facilities for small children were poor and not
as advertised. As far as the food is concerned - I think cruising is a great opportunity to expose them to all sorts of new foods. But what we got was mainly junk!!!!

Totally agree with you. We felt exactly the same. I felt as though the under 3's were treated like second class citizens!!!!!! Yes the splash pool was pathetic and cold. I thought the kids menu was dreadfull and every evening I was struggling to choose something for our daughter to eat. We did complain and were promised that the menu would change but nothing happened.
