Q:
We are going on Far East cruise in February. First port of call is overnight at Thailand Laemchabang/Bangkok. I have printed the excursions out and the majority are in Bangkok which is 2.5 hour journey. Having recently spent 5 days in Bangkok we would prefer to explore nearer to Laemchabang but the few excursions on offer are not inspiring and guide books are no help. Would be very grateful if anyone can suggest a few trips that we take that won't entail hours in a coach and won't break the bank.

Bangkok to Pattaya actually takes 1 and half to 2 hours depending on Traffic. Its an interesting but long journey certainly not just 12 miles. Pattaya is an interesting place to visit plenty of shops stalls and Lady Boys.

If you read the question he is going from the PORT, Laem Chabang & it is 12 miles. Cruise ships don't dock in Bangkok.

Why not visit Pattaya which is only 12 mile away from the port, which is the beach resort area of Bangkok. Plenty to see, shop, lie on the beach, drink in the bars etc. Check it out on the net. Regards Wilba

Thanks for that - it's the sort of answer I was hoping for, I didn't realise that there was a beach resort so close.

When you get off the ship there will always be minibus/taxis who you can discuss options with and go with them. I don't fancy a long journey to get there and back either so we would not be too happy either.
